The rest of the NY trip....
The next day I waited on my friend Yuki until 3 or 4! He said he was on his way @10:30! When he FINALLY showed UP (grrr!), we walked to Whole Foods and had lunch, talked, and then went to Central park soo FAST. I was soo sad! We walked along 5th Ave, grabbed cupcakes at the famed Magnolia Bakery from Sex In The City in Rockefeller Plaza, of course I got red velvet...it was vanilla cake with red food dye which WASNT how you even MAKE it and the cream cheese frosting was slightly better but still gross. SO disappointing! Walmart has better cupcakes! We saw Radio City Music Hall, and too many places to name, and headed back to the motel to meet Richard. Yuki visited for a bit and left, and Richard and I were trying to figure out what to do for dinner...I took 2 hours deciding, had a shower and had the worst blisters on my feet, and we needed to find a place within walking distance after all the cab fares we'd be paying for, we ended up at Aureole on 42nd with the famous chef Charlie Palmer...the food MELTED in your mouth. NOW I KNOW why people said you cant get better food anywhere than NY! My DESSERT had 24k gold SHAVINGS! On the way home, when Richard dipped into a place real quick and I waited outside...Spiderman asked for my number! I told him if I was younger and SINGLE Id take him up on that...he was a hot black guy under his costume...wow the scene where Spidey kisses Mary Jane upside down comes to mind! What a DAY!
On to my last FULL day in NY...
I woke up early, again after not gettin enough SLEEP...to walk to the Plaza to have breakfast! OMG what an AMAZZZZING experience! Decadence at its best! Because it was my first visit, the waiter brought me a complimentary plate with two of the best truffles and chocolate covered strawberrys life has to offer! I had an open faced bruschetta sandwich FIRST with the best tea of my LIFE! I am IN LOVVVE with NY!!!!!
I crossed the street, with blisters on my feet from my heels and wayyy too much walking the last few days and found a sexy Brazillian driver of a horse drawn carriage, and took that route to get around Central park. It was theeeee most BEAUTIFUL place Ive everrrr been to! I saw the Balto statue...very touching,...Strawberry Fields, and very important and bittersweet for me was seeing Tavern on the Green. Sheep Hearders Field, the lake where Adam Sandler was tripping bikers to make them fall into the lake. Central park was magical to me, absolutely enchanting!
I got dropped off on 5th Ave, and walked to MOMA and waited 3 hours for Yuki (Are you seeing a pattern here?? lol). We saw 40 or so paintings/drawings of Picasso's. It was like time stood still. Truly amazing to actually SEE his work before your eyes in PERSON! The most special pieces were by Frida Kahlo, and Diego Rivera. Frida and her heartache is very personal and close to my heart! I saw many Pollock's...I didnt realize he actually didnt ALWAYS splatter. I saw Andy Warhol's collection, including Marilyn. It was great to SEE, but his art was never ART to me. It didnt have passion, although it had reasoning behind it. It was as IF he made fun of materialism, commercialism etc. Anyways....we walked back to the motel and met Richard, and Yuki left again, and Richard and I went to D'Nico's because thats the only place I wanted to go to! It wasnt the same, we didnt eat on the Garden Patio...not the same experience...they didnt offer us bruschetta which I now realize is because they give you different free items at every visit. But we had an amazing white Zin that I cant find anywhere since Ive been back =( And we met a couple who had had their first son and the baby was fussy and they couldnt eat, so I offered to hold the baby (missing Kai and Xavi like crazy by this point) and held him for an hour. He was PRECIOUS! They said hes usually soo fussy and couldnt believe how I calmed him...it just felt good to be loving on a baby! After dinner I got a latte and chocolate covered cannolli from the oldest Bakery in Little Italy, Ferrara Bakery & Cafe. i was disappointed. the coffee was fine but the Cannoli was not even close to what I was used to! I also got a mini tiramisu and it was soo bad I didnt eat it. THAT sucked for being such a notorious place. Sadly, little Italy has been taken over by other nationalities and is NOT the Little Italy it once was known to be. I cant wait to go to D'Nico's again though and get their Bruschetta!
The next morning we walked 21 blocks getting a Yankee keychain for Dorothy, some souveneirs for the kids and then all the way to train station. And on to Marthas Vineyard.
