Olive Garden Breadsticks, "Copycat"
These dont last, so I dont have to tell you to eat them while theyre HOT, because you will...oh...you...WILL...
Dough:
1 1/2 C hot TAP water
1 T + 1 tsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 C hot TAP water
1 T + 1 tsp active dry yeast
2 T sugar
1 T salt
2 T butter, softened
4 1/2 C Bread flour
To Top:
4 T butter, melted
1/8 t. Sea salt
1/4 - 1/2 t Garlic Salt
1 T salt
2 T butter, softened
4 1/2 C Bread flour
To Top:
4 T butter, melted
1/8 t. Sea salt
1/4 - 1/2 t Garlic Salt
Turn your bread maker on the "DOUGH" setting. Add hot TAP water, and yeast. Start the breadmaker, and let run for 10 minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
When done, heat oven to 170*
Take the dough out and divide into 8 pieces, roll into breadsticks.
Place your bread sticks on a pizza stone, or a clay tile (unpainted side up) from Home Depot.
Place the breadsticks in your oven & let them rise for 15 minutes.
Once the breadsticks have risen, remove them from the oven. Brush them with the 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter and sprinkle them with the sea salt. (Go easy on the salt)
Reset the oven to 400*
Place a SECOND pizza stone/tile (creating a "Stone Pizza Oven") on the rack ABOVE where your breadsticks will be placed in the middle rack of the oven.
Once preheated, return the breadsticks to the oven.
Cook for 12 -18 minutes/ until golden brown.
When the breadsticks are golden brown, remove them from the oven and brush them with melted butter, and sparingly sprinkle with garlic salt, to taste.
* These cost me approx 40 cents to make. I get my bread flour from Costco because its an amazing price when you bake alot, and I use bread flour exclusively no matter what I bake. It has improved EVERYTHING.
When the breadsticks are golden brown, remove them from the oven and brush them with melted butter, and sparingly sprinkle with garlic salt, to taste.
